I've been fascinated by energy resources for most of my adult life. While working at the Department of Energy, I helped address the challenge of nuclear waste disposal at Yucca Mountain. Since then, I’ve been passionate about helping students and teachers understand the pros and cons of energy resources and their connection to climate change. Earthwise Educators provides engaging, classroom-ready resources that explore how human choices—about energy, land use, consumption, and more—shape our environmental future.

Choice

Research

Students explore the critical issue of climate change through research and a variety of creative, hands-on activities. Organized into three categories, the project invites students to investigate, demonstrate understanding, and take real-world action. Topics include environmental justice and local impacts, helping students build personal responsibility and a deeper connection to climate change solutions.

Our

Food

Students explore the connection between traditional Thanksgiving foods and climate change. They use data and information from several sources to examine three traditional Thanksgiving foods that they have chosen to research. Students use this information to design a more climate conscious meal. They then reflect on what they learned and propose action in the school and/or community.
